The Rediscovery of Jesus’ Missing Years and the Lost Gospel

In our final session, we will honor Jesus by sharing in a historical journey back in time two thousand years ago. We will also learn how the true story of Jesus and the priceless mysteries concerning His correct identity and mission has never been fully revealed in the accepted Gospels. To this we will add that, with the mid-twentieth century discoveries of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi Codices, the current rstoration of the previously unknown “lost years” of Jesus” ministry replicates the legendary “Lost Atlantis” three pendulum swing stages of spiritual consciousness progression: enlightenment, eradication and rejuvenation.

The story of Jesus’ life is one of the great treasures of the past. The core drama of His spiritual mission was highly mystical. He was a Master Teacher of Divine Wisdom (Gnosis) and revealer of spiritual truth (“thou art a teacher come from God” John 3:2). And, at the heart of the mystical revelations He brought to the world, were the profound teachings of the Christ Principle:  the identity-renovating idea of God’s “Image and Likeness” spiritual nature inherent in each and every person — the Sacred Human.

The “lost years” of Jesus refer to the missing 18 year period between His childhood and the beginning of His ministry that are not described in the four New Testament canonical Gospels. As a result, the accurate story of Jesus and the priceless Mysteries concerning His true identity and mission has remained unrevealed for two thousand years by organized Christianity. During that time, its conversion into a myriad of institutional religions has given rise to the great diversity of doctrinal systems into the present complex of denominations and sects that make up generic Christendom. In this great diversity — and many contentious divisions — the basic precepts have been translated, interpolated, altered and, lamentably, used as the authoritative justification to impose and enforce all manners of dictates on the rest of humanity.

Most people still do not yet realize what the 20th century discoveries of long hidden manuscripts have revealed about early Christian history. Although theological differences arose from the very beginning of Christianity, it is very difficult to counter deeply entrenched beliefs propagated for centuries with new levels of understanding. Yet, for those who are receptive to higher perception from the recent discoveries of the lost Dead Sea and Nag Hammadi manuscripts, there is now proven evidence of a fuller spiritually-based comprehension openly available about the more mystical and esoteric aspects of Jesus’ message.

What is it about the recently revealed story of Jesus’ life that is truly different? We will start with His birth. The Christmas anthology is probably the greatest gathering ofstories of any event in history. Yet as meaningful as it all has become, new revelations concerning several absent amendments can only add immensely important new levels of understanding about the mystically-based life of Jesus. Nazareth is never mentioned in the Hebrew Bible or in the writings of Josephus or the Talmud. It is from the Dead Sea Scrolls that we learn that Jesus’ authentic designation was Nazarite or, more fully, a Nazarene Essene, and that His true residence was their Northern Galilee community — a spiritual stronghold of ascetics.

Joseph and Mary were devout members of the community and well aware of Jesus Messianic destiny: a “Light of the World” spiritual envoy of liberation and enlightenment. They were trained and consecrated for their responsibility in His upbringing as an esoteric-mystically trained adult, at which time  He would be acknowledged the “Teacher of Righteousness” leader of their Northern Galilee spiritual community. The word “carpenter” in their vernacular meant “master builder”: either as a highly skilled craftsman or “mastermind mentor.” A great many titles were also eventually ascribed to Jesus: Messiah, Logos, Avatar, Son of Man, Son of God, Rabbi, The Anointed One and Christ.

In regard to the previously mentioned Trinity conundrum in which Jesus’ exclusive “Son of God” title was finally canonized in the 451 AD Council of Caledonia, the author is aware that such lofty tributes of reverential and even immortalized veneration were also awarded in the Greek tradition to Hermes and to the ancient Roman pharaohs: including the deification of the symbolic “Mother of Egypt” Queen Nefertiti. The divine heroine exaltation was then continued in Christianity with Jesus’ mother Mary and extended into the reverence and worship of Saints and Angels.  Christians commonly refer to Jesus as the only “Son of God” as an analogy applied to Jesus in reference to His Divine Role as Savior and Redeemer and afterlife Deliverer from their earthly sin and evil. This is the foundation of their faith.

Based on the Nazarene Essene spiritual tradition, the author rests his “Son of God” belief analogy on the “Word Made Flesh”/ “Logos” identity of Jesus as one who attained the archetype Christ Consciousness realization of His spiritual identity  as the “Image and Likeness of God” Oneness with God fully expressed in His words and deeds.

The Nazarenes were an ancient Jewish sect dating back to 150 BC. Their background included the Nazarene Essenes Order of Mount Carmel — never mentioned in the New Testament. They were dedicated to the teaching and study of the Ancient Mysteries, which had been transmitted to their Order from Egypt. The subsequent “out of Egypt have I called my son” (Matthew 2:15) flight into Egypt after Jesus’ birth was a possible testimony to their Golden Thread mystical heritage that most likely included the closely guarded Kabbalistic Mysteries of the Soul. They were radically different from the rest of the Jewish Sects. As a result, they were at odds with and persecuted by the Southern Pharisees and Sadducees — and, in particular, the divisive politics of Herod — later shown in Jesus’ renowned “cleansing of the Temple.”

The Essenes had also first been established in Palestine from the Mount Carmel School of Prophets as a strand of the Ancient Wisdom “Golden Thread.” They referred to their teachings as “The Way” and took vows of non-violence, truthfulness, purity and vegetarianism. As a secret order of Theraputate physicians, they had a number of grotto hospices and rescue homes in Palestine for the sick, poor and children — which may have been the real site of Jesus’ birth.  They also wore white attire as a designation of “purity” — which also may have been their designation as the “angels” at Jesus’ Crucifixion. With their mystical tendencies, the Nazarenes and Essenes had many things in common and were conjoined.

Consequently, one of the most important missing pieces of the Gospel puzzle is the knowledge that the earliest form of Christianity was based on the eye-opening Ancient Wisdom transmitted through the Nazarene Essenes. Most of Jesus’ Apostles were “called out” Essenes and practiced the ascetic life of “purity” — and this way of life became the similar beliefs of  the early followers of Jesus. Although they were forerunners of Christianity, in the 4th century A.D. they were systematically ruled out and the canonical Bible has remained strangely silent about them.

One highly revealing unveiling of an authentic translation is found in John 19:19 of the original Aramaic Ancient Easter Peshitta Manuscripts.  It reveals that  Pilate, he reluctant Jewish prospector who was convince by his wife of Jesus’ political innocence, had this inscription place of Jesus’ Cross: “This is  Jesus the Nazarene King of the Jews.”

Unnamed in the biblical text, Pilate’s wife was later designated Saint Claudia by the Eastern Orthodox Church — which split from the Western Orthodox Church in the Great Schism of 1054 AD. The Aramaic used in the Peshitta text — the authorized Bible of the Church of the East — had continued as a common vernacular in the Eastern Orthodox region for well over a thousand years. (The author has a Peshitta translation in English).

Jesus was truly a teacher extraordinaire. The Spiritual Truth that He revealed through His teachings were testimonies to the mystical way we are all ultimately preordained to live from the creative spirit available within us. This mystical level of existence was sagaciously expressed by Jesuit priest and philosopher Teilhard de Chardin: “we are not humans having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a human experience.” In addition, the exemplar way that He lived His life — not as the exception, but as the example — was as an archetypal model of all the higher values and virtues that make this possible.

Yet very little of the profound spiritual teachings that Jesus brought to the world are recognizable in the canonical Gospel traditions based on creedal literalism. Also, His manner of teaching precludes this misguided and misinterpreted literal-minded premise because Jesus most often conveyed His message of mystical insights into spiritual truth by using the colloquial symbolism and folktale parables of Aramaic, His native language.

Also central to His teachings was a God of Love. The most unfortunate creedal assumption in the Christian doctrine is the profoundly dogmatically-altered emphasis on fear and guilt instead of love and grace. To reinstate a paramount historical unveiling: this deviation mainly occurred when Constantine based the authoritarian control of autocratic institutional leadership by changing Jesus’ emphasis on the reverential “awe of God” to the menacing “Fear of God.” The crux of this punitive God doctrinal theology was based on the intercessional afterlife “eternal salvation” conditionally provided only by indispensable ecclesiastical allegiance — or else “eternal damnation.”

Neither mythological conceived “heaven” nor “hell’ are scientifically recognized cosmic or planetary locations, but mystical metaphors for either higher or lower states of mind as they prevail in human consciousness. This authoritative sanctioned “hell theology” (“born sinner” — “fall of man”) — a fourth century AD Nicaean Council scriptural translation entrenched as a pillar of church doctrine initially formulated by Augustine — was an exclusive religious-based means of salvation the ultimate control stratagem of all time.

The “Born Sinner” shame and guilt intimidation — laying a guilt trip on millions of people for centuries — was a misinterpretation from the complicated parabolic mythology in which God originally granted humanity an education scholarship treasure (Esoteric Garden) of Spiritual Understanding (Mystical Tree of Knowledge), available through the enlightening fulfillment (Soul Blossoming Fruition) by God’s forward-moving bequest of Free Willed Choice.

The “Fall of Man” was an augmented blame-game interpretation concerning humanity’s “new born” innocence in which a Snake symbolized the initial false ideas of our youthful ignorance about our inherent Spiritual Destiny involving our Divine Creation in the “Image and Likeness of God. ” It totally ignored the higher consciousness full development potentials of our yet to be discovered inborn essential worthiness and potential creative power.  Charles Fillmore furnished a positive response: “You have been cast in a larger mold than this. God did not create you to be forever dust and ashes, to be blown about by the four winds.”

The negative connotation perpetuated in the above doctrinal fear mongering was decidedly not “The Good News” of the unadulterated Spiritual Truth of Jesus’ original Gospel — which was the purest message of truth ever known. Indeed, much of it is in brazen contrast to the essential message He revealed about an awesome good and loving God who created each of us to personally exemplify His noble heritage.

In John Milton’s John Milton’s epic seventeenth century poem Paradise Lost he resolves Adam and Eve’s original sin with its subsequent expulsion from Eden and generalized condemnation of all humanity as well; with the reminder from Genesis 1-26 “And God said let us make man in our image and after our likeness,” and Genesis 31 “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”

When the ancient Genesis “Tree of Life” folktale is taken literally, it makes God responsible for all the seeming innate defects and flawed design of humanity. Milton resolved this fundamentalist religiosity implication that a truly loving and beneficent God could ever possibly punish and disown us for attempting to acquire “The Knowledge of Good and Evil.” To Carl Jung the “Garden of Eden” is a non-historical myth about the transformation of human consciousness — a “Know Thyself” Depth Psychology and the mastery of this world – by our inborn capacity to change from ego-consciousness to a direct experience and expression of the Divine by fulfilling the “Image and Likeness of God” needs of the soul.

When the Genesis 3:7 account states that “their eyes were opened” it refers to our ability to discern the true functional reality of our human existence. We are born innocent and nothing is essentially wrong with us. Our role is to utilize our emancipating Free Will to clear-sightedly learn and progressively grow into the higher spiritualized consciousness expression of our God-gifted “Image and Likeness” divine heritage.  It was from this Ephesians 5:14 “Thou that sleepiest” Spiritual Awakening that we can convey  Christ-like thoughts, feelings , words and deeds that express God’s love and goodness — biblically resolved with “and the lord said man has become one of us” Genesis 3: 22.

Milton’s poem  incorporated all the familiar mythical biblical characterizations. The first was for those negative portrayals involved in the transgressive “Fall of Man” from ingesting the “forbidden fruit” of the Tree of Knowledge. And he then depicted how the alleged “born sinner” disparagement of our spiritual heritage might seem frightfully intimidating to the spiritually unawakened.

But, this is then amended by an angelic (“spiritual perspective”) remedial reassurance of a much higher knowledge of Divine Reality that, in time, would furnish the Lesson of Atlantis Pendulum Swing into the spiritualized advancement of humanity. This would be consummated through the mystical realization of God’s true nature — an infinite All-Knowing Intelligence and Divine Creative Agent as an all-pervading but invisible source of goodness, righteousness and unconditional love engaged in the spiritualized advancement of humankind.

The metaphorical point of the Adam and Eve story is the “Apple Tree” divine mystery of the development of human consciousness and our free will responsibility to gradually correct and overcome our mistaken beliefs and harmful actions.  We are to rightfully learn and spiritually evolve on the redemptive stairway to heavenly enlightenment from our human infancy to our divine adulthood (later esoterically individualized by Jesus’ parable of the Prodigal Son).

In Milton’s poem, this exalted spiritual truth of a Good God’s true philanthropic nature is further conveyed by the Archangel Michael as an inspirational message championing the glory of God and as a forecast of humanity’s future redemption from the seeming “Fall of Man.” And with poetic license, he added further encouragement by sanctioning the Bible history involving the exemplar spiritually endowed birth of Jesus. He then concluded the poetic rendering in support of the awesome bestowing nature of a truly Good God with the reassurance that, although Adam had lost the carnal-minded physical paradise that had preceding his awakening to the eventual possibilities of a world altering spiritual rebirth: “Adam may find a paradise within thee, happier far.”

Milton then moved this forward to the corresponding “Good News” as revealed several times through the foundational mystical teachings of Jesus Christ: “Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or lo there, for behold the Kingdom of God is within you” Luke 17:21; “Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” Matthew 25:34; and “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God” John 3:3. This corresponds to the initial Genesis initial “Image and Likeness” of God’s birthright principle proclaimed at the opening chapter of the Bible that decrees the Divine Reality of human existence — “Our Original and Everlasting Sacred Blessing” (Genesis 1:26).

The truly “Good News” is that everything Jesus taught and demonstrated was based on the true purpose of this life: which is the inner way of evolving spiritually and thereby attaining a more enlightened consciousness and higher level of existence. This was often reinstated biblically in symbolic expressions. The metaphorical meaning of “heaven” was “the heights” ( better understood as “uplifting expansion”).

Jesuit visionary Teilhard de Chardin, from his Gnostic foundation of allegorical understanding related to the Book of Genesis and the “sinful nature of man” — and assimilated into his boo The Phenomenon of Man — portrayed the ultimate destiny of the Universe as the “Omega Point” fullness of God and the maturity of all things.  it turns out that a significant “Lesson of Atlantis” (“Times are a changing”) positive religious breakthrough has occurred in which Pop we Francis  — who now accepts Teilhard’s understanding of a dynamic Universe over the static version that the Church has always embraced — is considering a petition to remove the 1962 Holy Office Warning and Discipline punishment imposed on Teilhard for offending Catholic doctrine.  This “gentle revolution” of Pope Francis could surely help amend the condemnatory “angry God” and “sinful humanity” negation in biblical interpretation.

In further mystical symbolism, the allegorical transformational meaning of crucifixion and resurrection (the horizontal and vertical bars of the Cross) is to be raised up from human awareness into spiritual enlightenment (“set your mind on the things that are above, not on things that are upon the earth” Colossians 3:2.). This objective of this regenerative path does not lead to a place somewhere in space, but the enlightened attainment of an exalted state of Christ Consciousness (a spiritually liberated state of existence in harmony with the Divine Mind comprising a direct experience of Oneness with God).

Thereby, the true spiritual redemptive means of liberation over worldly ignorance and the resultant inhumane travesties are all amply provided while in this world. The ultimate happiness gained from the Beatitudes of Jesus truly becomes our way of life.  We love others by the free will choice of suspending our judgements through forgiveness (to give love for); followed by the Golden Rule: “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that others should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law of the prophets” Mathew 7:12).

This guideline of Sacred Service was summarized in Jesus’ final priority commission to His Disciples: “Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me” (Matthew 25:40). Jesus also assured us that “if any man serve me, him will my father honor.” (John12: 26). This is also an assurance that our spiritually progressive opportunities for a gratifying afterlife will be enhanced by this.

Jesus’ great salvation message, therefore, was based on the Free Will spiritual liberation attainable in this life by elevating and spiritualizing our consciousness and doing all we can in this world towards serving God and our fellow humans: “That ye may walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10). Hence, a heavenly blessed afterlife is assured.

One of the frequently overlooked revolutionary differences revealed in the “Lost Gospels” was the highly respectful way Jesus regarded women — and set new and higher values for them. He lived in a man’s world, and the primary image of God in the scriptures has remained masculine. Yet, from the prominence of women in His story and the eminence in the way they were venerated by Him, Jesus clearly upheld their dignity, equality and sacred holiness as also having been “created in the Image and Likeness of God” (Genesis 1:27).

Although the canonical Bible lists only 12 men as His Disciples and Apostles, there were a number of women apprentices and supporters that were featured proximately in the accounts of His life and ministry. Matthew 27:55 records that “many women followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto Him.”  Ironically, while the male Apostles all fled from Jesus’ Crucifixion, His closest women supporters remained at the foot of His Cross. And in the recently uncovered Gospel of Mary, it was clear that Mary Magdalene was His favorite and most prominent Apostle — and possibly even more intimately betrothed in a Hieros Gamos sacred union. There is also no doubt from these accounts of His female relationships, starting with his beloved mother Mary (a universal symbol of maternal love), that He regarded feminine kindheartedness as a natural and major extension of God’s empathy, love and compassion.

By openly authenticating this nurturing quality of benevolent affection intrinsic in the Divine Feminine Principle – totally  renovating the tragically flawed male-dominant  theological denial and disregard of the Sacred Feminine —  Jesus was gracefully introducing us to a motherhood aspect of God’s nature that caringly and unconditionally venerates each of us as distinctive and beloved children of God.  In Mark Twain’s altruistic remark (reminiscent of the Lesson of Atlantis consummation of the world’s oldest story relating to human existence on earth): “When Adam was old, he was asked do you miss Eden? And he answered wherever there is Eve, there is Eden.”

This concluding article is being wrapped up by declaring that the past has much to tell and there still remains a great deal to be accomplished in helping awaken the general public to the latent spiritual riches available in the very essence of their being. Because, even though there are numerous members now affiliated with the well-known modern secret societies, even many of them have never fully advanced to an enlightened world-changing degree of the true understanding hidden within the closely guarded treasure of mystical knowledge inherent within their Order.

The author does not need to elaborate on the crisis — with its  spiritual and  humanitarian  darkness — we now face throughout the world. There is no doubt that it is the urgently needed time for the crucial “Lesson of Atlantis” pendulum-swing consciousness-raising spiritual rebirth to bring forth this precious “awake thou that sleepest” knowledge of the Great Wisdom Tradition. hidden for 2,000 as a heretical threat, it is now accessible  enough to openly providing a Spiritual Transformational Curriculum that can inspire each individual to personify their intrinsic “Image and Likeness” of God in a Good God Renaissance.

In this Redemptive Transformation that is urgently needed in the present world, each of us can accept the noble responsibility of contributing to a better world as a “Follower of Jesus” and His strategic revelation of a Totally Loving God: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12).   In Martin Luther King Jr’s  “I have a dream” legacy of Rebirth out of Discord: “Darkness can not drive our darkness; hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” The author’s great hope and prayer is that the restoration of the lost history of Jesus’ preeminent Sacred Mission of Mystical Enlightenment and Love-Based Spiritual Restitution — and therefore Revelation of the Christ Nature in each of us — shall be gloriously revealed!– and let it be unequivocally integrated into a transformational Good-God Renaissance.  And my great hope and prayer is that, to activate this, the awesome and redemptive secrets about Jesus — and the latent Christ Nature in each of us — shall be gloriously revealed!

The message to each reader is that you — and especially now as a SBNR “follower of Jesus” — become aware of and open and receptive to the previously hidden and authentically restored missing years and lost Gospel of Jesus’ life and teachings. And, from an open minded mystical point of view, allow it to be spiritually resurrected into your life and become the next step in your earthly mission. This innovative life-changing into higher enlightened consciousness — in which we become more like Jesus — will then intuitively awaken you to the hidden depths of your latent spiritual possibilities and activate dormant creative capabilities that transcend the limits of humanity’s mundane worldly existence.

Within the awe, wonder and epiphany awareness of the “new born” spiritual potentials of your previously latent “Spark of the Divine,” you will live a fuller, richer life of peace, love, compassion and beneficence. In His Beatitudes (“Blessed Attitudes”), Jesus gives us clear cut statements of the qualities of character that receive Divine Blessedness. In this greater love-based connection with God, you will also be guided by your “Better Angel” to help advance the idyllic values and virtues of the perennial spiritual principles as a spiritual pioneer. This currently includes — as an enlightened beacon of the true American Spirit — equality and justice for all (exemplified by Pope Francis “Who am I to Judge”). And, because unselfish service is the mark of high consciousness, honor Jesus’ farewell commission to champion kind-hearted care for the afore-mentioned “the least of theses my brethren” (Matthew 25:40).

Back in 1896, a book by Charles Shelton entitled In His Steps presented a remarkably authentic spiritually-based approach to Christian theology and moralistic discipleship.  In featuring a congregation and community that begin to live by asking “What would Jesus do,” (WWJD this innovative fictional perspective became a best-selling religious novel. The personal experience of many readers was that, when taken to heart, the novel could bring us closer to Jesus and God.  And, very important — but less recognized — higher consciousness redemption from the soul polluting condescending and egocentric shadows of our subconscious with a spiritual awakening of our latent God-given divine potential into the enlightened regeneration of becoming more like Jesus. This truly complies with His Good God centered: “A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” John 13: 35).  Truly following His mandate would change the world.

The author would like to especially address this to the 75 million American Millennials and the possibility of their innovative SBNR “followers of Jesus” peaceful Good God Renaissance. Born between the early 1980as and 2000 AD, they are the nation’s youngest and largest living generation of adults — and are increasingly becoming far less likely to identify with a religious group. Noticeably contrasting the country’s older adults, they are far more liberal, tolerant, unconditionally nonjudgmental, inclusive, idealistically open-minded and refreshingly upbeat. Half of them are persuaded that America’s best years lie ahead.  It is from these young patriots that a “Lesson of Atlantis” transcendent bridge from the present national crisis to a righteous realization of the American Dream is indeed promising.

Even more promising is the possibility that along with bringing out the best in us, this quiet core value revolution might help make churches even more spiritually-centered places of peace-loving ministration with philanthropic clemency and empathetic redemption by promoting heightened mystical consciousness. Then by nurturing the spiritual awakening of its members to function as love-based apostles on the mystical path that Jesus revealed and validated, it will help inspire all humanity to its Divinity.

A superb biblical example is giver by the Apostle Paul to the church of Philippi.  Having been imprisoned several time for religious-based persecution, he presented them a beneficial redemptive model for other early churches to follow. After setting before them the divinely inspired teachings of Jesus — and the prerequisite for the higher consciousness possibility for spiritual evolution by filling their minds with the Spiritual Truths and not “earthly things done through strife and vainglory” — Paul declared: “Let this same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2: 5).

And in accord with that, the innovative life changes of spiritually-minded followers who aspire to be more like Jesus will help create an exemplary ecclesiastical society of kindhearted and charitable humanitarians. From this, we can truly learn how to express our inherent “Good Samaritan” Spiritual Qualities as authentic “Followers of Jesus.” A wonderful philanthropic example of this was the late Mother Teresa — greatly respected by all major religions and recently granted Sainthood — who truly followed Jesus’ spiritual commission to love the unloved and help those in need.

The author would again like to share one rather personalized way that he has come to regard both the challenge and opportunity of living our life based on our divinely endowed dignity of an “Image and Likeness” child of God. That is to regard oneself as an undergraduate enrolled in the Earth’s University of the Universe school house — and utilizing the all-embracing “lessons of life” educational curriculum to learn and grow into spiritual maturity.

It is important to remember that each one of us experiences both life’s challenges and rewards. And in the resolution and ongoing progressive lessons encountered by each of us. we can attain greater knowledge and experience in the evolutionary process of both our intellectual and mystic maturation — and thereby increasingly become more active participants in God’s creative work in process.  It is by God’s gift of Free Will choice that we can increasingly become more active participants in our earth-life mission of gaining the higher Spiritual knowledge and practicing the Transcendent Values available to our individual educational available in our individual educational curriculum.  Our Key Spiritual Mission: “Humanity Inspired to its Divinity.”

The initial way to launch the “New Birth” Spiritual Awakening of our True Nature and Good Samaritan Conduct is to apply The Law if Mind Action (“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” Romans 12:2). You can actually become Modern Mystic — and, with this educative Higher Consciousness Transformation, not only change yourself but help change the World!

An important turning point comes with the Enlightened Awakening to the Ultimate reality inviolved in our participation in the Creative process as depicted in Genies Chapter one.  It is especially significant to realize that , after each stage of the evolutionary process of Creation, “God saw everything he had made, and behold it was very good.” This most certainly included having made each of us “after God own Image and Likeness.” —  and inherent in the “Eternal Life” immortality of our soul, the enlightened progression and creative advancement to be gained within each self-actualization transcending stage the spiritual development and expression of our personal God-Given Divine Nature. This indeed is the true spiritual redemptive path of “Salvation.”

The Spiritual Evolution of humanity is masterfully expressed by American new Age author Greeg Braden: “Awake all this extraordinary potential that we have so that we can become the Best People and create the Best World possible. A Supreme Guiding principle is the Transcendent “Way, Truth, Life demonstrated by Jesus (“The Light that shines for all to see”).

This consecrated  Mystical Approach regenerates our human condition with Soul-Stirring Reawakening to our Divine Nature and Sacred Mission.  It is the “Lesson of Atlantis” guarantee of our perpetual support that facilitates our Great Commission to pursue and achieve our God-Given potential as “a light in the world” (Mathew 5:4).

The Genesis Creation Story is essentially an important metaphorical portrayal of humanity’s lifetime evolutionary growth stages from birth to mature adulthood — and, vitally important, to outgrow the immature erroneous And misguided belief-systems amassed as long the way.

This also awakens us to the ultimate “Lesson of Atlantis” Reality that our individual path of Spiritual Growth within  Good God’s divinely administered redemptive and reconciling Master Plan of Creation — by progressively merging our minds, hearts and actions in harmony with the  Eternal Devine  principles, laws and supportive ideas and virtues that comprise Christ Consciousness — the Higher Good everlastingly awaits us every step of the way.  On the evolutionary Ladder of Divine Ascent, far more good always lies ahead — and it id assuredly possible to continue learning and growing “happily ever after.”

Consequently, in addition to the previously advocated twin biblical Cornerstone Genesis Procuration of our true “Image and Likeness of God” identity, were Jesus’ continual reminder through His life and teachings of the primary Mystical Truth about who each and every one are “in Spirit and Truth.”  It  is thee “Know Thyself supreme proclamation of our authentic Spiritual Legacy  and Divine Birthright commission as expressers of God’s Eternal and Goodness. “Behold , what great love the Farther has lavished on us that we should be children of  God! And that is what we are ! The reason the world knoweth us not is that it did not know him (1 John 3:1)

It is in the Book of Genesis “Wisdom Tree” scriptural analogy that that reveal an important distinction between spiritual-base knowledge and the human mentality by which we often erroneously miss-the-=mark with an ill-conceive sense of purpose and therefore misguided strategies for Earth-Life success and fulfillment that is not in harmony with Divine Mind.  One contemporary human-vogue lampoon for attempting to “run the show” is “If you want to make God Laugh, tell Him your plans.”

We were meant to learn and grow, but not by a mistaken interpretation of the

The Spiritual Evolution of humanity  is masterfully expressed by  American New Age author Greg Braden: “Awaken all these extraordinary potentials that we have so that we can become the beast people and create the best world possible.  In this spiritual development process, a supreme guiding principle is the transcendent “Way, Truth, Life agenda taught and demonstrated by Jesus.(“The Light that shines for all to see”).

This consecrated mystical approach spiritually regenerates our human condition with soul-stirring awakenings to our Divine Nature and Sacred Mission. It is the ultimate Lesson of Atlantis  guarantee of perpetual remedial support that facilitates our great commission  to pursue and achieve our God-given potential as a “Light in the world” (Mathew 5: 14).

Jesus, as a “Spiritual luminary in the world for all to see”  set the perfect example of how to love through expressing blessings to others when He washed and kissed His disciples unclean feet just before they feasted together at the Last Supper (John 13: 1- 7). When Peter was perplexed — and even embarrassed — as to why someone far greater than him should perform this altruistic honor, Jesus answered: “For I have given you an example that ye should do as I have done to you.” The spiritual importance of applying the virtue of perfect service to others is that we are also serving God and becoming more Christlike.

The ethical teachings of Jesus, with love at its core, place strong emphasis on caring for the poor and the adversely effected. The spiritual importance of applying this virtue of beneficent service to others is that, through the power of kindness, we are then also serving God and becoming more Christlike. In Jimmy Carters’ words: “emulate the perfect life of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.”

An important turning point comes with the enlightened awakening to the ultimate reality of our participation in the creative process as depicted in Genesis Chapter One. It is especially significant to realize that, after each stage of the evolutionary process of creation, “God saw everything he had made, and behold it was very good.” This most certainly included having made each of us “in God’s own Image” — and the inherent “Eternal life” immortality of our soul, and the enlightened progression and creative advancement to be gained within each self-actualization transcending stage in the Spiritual development and expression of our personal God-given Divine Nature. This indeed is the true Spiritual Evolution redemptive path of “Salvation.”

In the Genesis Creation story, light came forth from darkness. Metaphorically, in the human experience, enlightment comes forth from ignorance and the temporal. This also awakens us to the ultimate “Lesson of Atlantis” reality  that on our individual path of Spiritual Growth within a Good God’s divinely administered redemptive and reconciling Master Plan of Creation — we become active Sacred Service participants in God’s creative work in progress. It means that on the evolutionary Ladder of Divine Ascent, far more of God’s good always lies ahead —  and it is assuredly possible to continue learning and growing  “happily ever after.” So, always ” pay it forward.”

Therefore in spite of worldly appearances and even our most challenging lifetime lessons and perplexing growth opportunities, the serendipitously intrinsic ”Good News” is that “God is Good all the time and all the time God is Good.” It is also inspiring to know that God can do an amazing lots of things with very little.” And finally remember that our part in the Grand Scheme of God’s awesome Cosmos involves far more than an alleged religious finalized “afterlife in the sky.” Again, in a tongue-in-cheek spoof, Mark Twain cynically countered “sitting on a cloud strumming a harp all day would turn out to be insufferably boring.”

Jesus’ life and teachings were a sacred reminder to each and every one of us of the primary Mystical Truth about who we really are “In Spirit and Truth.” It is the “Know Thyself” supreme proclamation of our authentic Spiritual Legacy and Divine Birthright as expressers of God’s eternal love and goodness. “Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the sons of God: And that is what we are! The reason the world knoweth us not is that it did not know him” (I John 3:1).

Accordingly, as a “Follower of Jesus”: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven” (Matthew 5:16).  This endowment is the Sacred Honor and Holy Heritage bestowed upon you when you were divinely created as a blessed Child of a Good and loving God..

At the heart of all the Wisdom Traditions — and most religions around the world — is the Golden Rule.  To Christians it is found in Matthew 7 :12′: “Thou shall love they neighbor as thyself” — and Luke 6:31: “Do unto other as would have them do unto you.” The altruism of Spiritual Wisdom and ultimate directive for religious conduct is the most effective instrument for transforming the human heart and expressing our best self.

Included in Saint Frances of Assisi’s message of Universal Love is a wonderful prayer to help guide us in expressing our true Spiritual Birthright Nature:

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to give love; for it is giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Added to this is a metaphysical understanding by Charles Fillmore that in  the Grand Scheme of Creation, “God is the Primal Cause of the Universe” and” Divine Mind is the One and Only Reality.” This is extended into the understanding that with our indwelling True Spiritual Birthright gift of human consciousness we also share the Spiritual Potential for many Divine Qualities and Creative Abilities. He then applied this to the demonstrable Spiritual Magnificence of our pure motive and honest judgment of what he describes as Practical Christianity.

Then —  invoking “Lesson of Atlantis” pendulum swing away from the negative distractions of the world,  he wrote “Here is the mental treatment guaranteed to cure every ill that flesh is heir to: sit for half an hour evert night and mentally forgive everyone against whom you have any ill will or empathy.”  He also wrote, “The value of service lies in the Spirit in which you serve.  Even the lowest task or deed is made holy and joyous when it is filled with love.”

This then lends itself to several important guiding maxims involving idealism that the author also tries to remember in his daily life. First of all: and most important — always remember that “God is Good all the time and all the time God is Good” — “Hallowed by thy Name.” (For his closest and most endearing relationship with God, he affectionately addresses The Almighty Creator of the Universe as “Beloved Parent Spirit.”)

It is the Book of Genesis’ metaphoric account of God’s Divine Design and Grand Purpose intrinsic in Creation that fully discloses the unifying connection within the “behold it was very good” universal grandeur of the Cosmos and the subsequent dignity of the blessed nativity and inherent spiritual growth potential bestowed on each  human. Because God’s Architectural and Human Parental  Role in Creation is  perfectly consummated (Chapter One of Genesis) , it is important to understand that the immutable “Law Of Our Being” sustains that we were born “Beloved Children of God” — with an ongoing “Born Again” spiritual growth curriculum through metaphysical stages of consciousness-maturing enlightenment.

To attain an ever increasing faith-based confidence and more enduring peace of mind, realize that even amid the difficulties, limitations and discouraging unknowns in your present life: “God has greater plans.” So, because it clarifies the bounds of our individual responsibility to remember — that in the allegorical “Garden of Eden” Wisdom discernment for bringing forth the potential for spiritual groats  in harmony with Divine Mind — “only God can make a tree.”

One of our more juvenile ways we  miss-the mark of our Earth Life improvement planning tactics is — in a more contemporary humor aphorism — “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” The farsighted livelihood methodology :  “don’t worry about tomorrow, God is already there.”

Then, in accepting your true Divinely Ordained calling to personally transform into a higher more enlightened level of existence from the Inspiration of Spiritual Guidance, ask yourself “What Would Jesus Do.” From that transcendent spiritual-minded pledge on, maintain this “Follower of Jesus” identification by a disciple/apostle commitment to center your live around Christ by uplifting your thoughts, feelings and actions to a Good God level of high-minded and good-hearted higher consciousness.   (“Therefore if an man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5: 17).

Then, to uphold the “New Birth” in your daily routine: be optimistic and progressive, do no harm, be caring, courteous and forgiving  — with the understanding that “the epitome gift you can give anyone is unconditional love and kindhearted acceptance, dignity and respect.” Henceforth, also personally “let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” And, over and  over again: “Thank you God.

In tribute to God’s great love and blessings

These articles have been written by William Earle Cameron, who was ordained a Unity School of Christianity Minister in 1966.  He served twice in the U.S. Military, with a college political science major in between.  In his first enlistment he was a Marine Corps Rifleman and in the second an Air Force Jet Fighter Pilot and Survival Instructor.  After undergoing a difficult reentry into civilian life — and entering a recovery program — he completed three years of ministerial training with part time work in the Silent Unity prayer Ministry at Unity Village, Missouri (it included three successive nine-months Bible courses: Historical, Metaphysical and Aramaic, the last one taught by Dr. George C. Lamsa).  After ordination, he served Unity Churches in seven USA cities.  During his Ministerial career he published three books and seventy-three magazine articles (an elaboration on much of the historical research relating to the Perennial Spiritual Principles were addressed in his books — see Amazon.com). After he retired he has been designated Minister Emeritus of Unity on the Bay in Miami, Florida.  The retirement residence for him and his wife Dori is Key Biscayne, Florida.

How Christianity Got So Far Off

One decisive yet perplexing fact concerning the historical background of Christianity is  that, although during the first three centuries there had only been separate documents with differing sources and translation, the version of the Bible as it is generally known by Christians today only took final shape in the fourth century A.D. This occurred under the sponsorship of Constantine, the autocratic General of the Roman Legions turned Roman Emperor in his attempt to save the declining Roman Empire by having them believe in one “Romanized” religion.

The authors initial interest in Constantine’s role in dramatically altering came when he visited a major exhibition in the York England’s Yorkshire Museum on the 1700th Anniversary of the Proclamation by his troops of Constantine as Emperor of the Roman World.  Then, with 40,000 soldiers behind him he actually became the Christian Emperors.by invading Rome in the Battle of Miluian Bridge.  This was canonically validated as an outcome of a vision he had of a Cross inspired by Christ Himself with the words: “By This Sign Conquer.” Further research revealed that the authenticity of Constantine’s total life-changing conversion to Christianity from this Divine Intersession — and his total abandonment of Roman Paganism — is questioned because he waited until his deathbed before he decided to be converted by the Sacrament of Baptism

Even more problematic, Constantine’s shrewd decision in reorganizing Christianity to suit his controlling purposes began by adopting the prevailing Roman popular Mithraic beliefs and militant agenda and converting them into his new version of Christianity thus Romanizing the figure of Jesus.

The Gospels weren’t written down for decades, and during the first three centuries, various localized versions filtered through oral and written segments resulted in differing accounts and therefore crucial teachings and beliefs to be venerated. Then, the institutionalized dogmatic version complied by seven ecumenical councils in the 4th century by the Western Roman Church were to prevail by producing a canon of the New Testament that supported its own narrow purpose interpretations. To unreservedly safeguard this, their authoritative canonical collection was deemed infallible — to which nothing could ever be added or subtracted.

There were momentous historic ramifications of catastrophic religious-based aggressions resulting from Constantine’s all conquering militant-based control of the institutional church. Constantine’s Roman background religious affiliations combined the Sol Invictus “Sun God” beliefs with those of the Roman Legion patrons of Mars, the “War God.” From that point on, any belief system that differed from the orthodox was adamantly resisted as heresy and in danger of severe retaliatory punishment. Much of this has been veiled over the long history of Christianity.

From the research exposing the extremely devastating consequences inflicted during the eras of the military campaigns of Christian history that had been deliberately obscured, the author came to realize that the term “Holy War” is one of history’s most deceptive oxymorons. In the Sermon on the Mount — Jesus’ iconic spiritual wisdom principles for raising human consciousness and living from the highest moral standards — He unequivocally decreed: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Children of God” (Mathew 5:9).

The author also recognized that, as mentioned above, from the various councils that followed Constantine’s Council of Nicaea (325 AD) and extending to the Council of Constantinople (381 AD), a variety of Romanized Mithraic pagan beliefs were assimilated into important Christian dogmas. This included the pagan origins of the dates for Christmas, Easter, Sun-Day worship and most startling of all: a new biographical identity for Jesus with a “virgin birth,”  “only begotten” and the “resurrection.”

Also, based on ancient trinitarian gods, the much debated and conflicting gender-influenced Christian belief that God is “three persons” coexisting in the God Head was finally accepted as orthodox doctrine in the AD 451 Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon. Although not mentioned in the Bible, this “Third Person” hypothesis of the doctrinal role the Holy Spirit in the Mystery of Godliness had a somewhat Lesson of Atlantis right outcome.

It can be extraordinarily beneficial in drawing directly on the a personalized transcendent aspect of the Presence of God’s All-Good Nature. Carried into expression as an inspirational activating force invoking a higher Spiritual-Minded thought process, it  energizes our latent spiritual powers that  provide the immanent contact with God that brings forth  the divine guidance and the right outcomes that spatially enhance our lives.

Then in the mid-twentieth century A.D., two highly revealing Bible history discoveries were made: the Dead Sea Scrolls in Palestine and the Nag Hammadi Codices in Egypt. Like separate but concurrent time capsules buried nearly two millennia ago to preserve important messages for the future, they disclosed a profoundly different, legitimately competent and far more comprehensive story of the early church and divulged how meager the “authorized” New Testament sources had been. Yet, as with the long history of defending “orthodoxy” against heretical departures from the Western Roman Church’s infallible doctrinaire version, the relevancy of these remarkable manuscript discoveries has often been indignantly denied or ignored — or rarely even taken seriously by academics.

Also found in the 1945 discovery of the Bag Hammadi Codices was the proto-Gnostic non-canonical Gospel of Thomas (eradicated by the 4th century Nicaean Council) that provides the new insights from  collection of 114  saying oin the Coptic language. Although discredited by the Western Roman Church, Thomas was honored by the Eastern Church in his Apostolic travels to India.

Within the Western Church tradition, there is also the almost inflexible belief — even among academic Bible scholars — that the Bible was originally composed in Greek and Latin. It is true that the Apostle Luke was Greek-speaking and the Apostle Paul’s writings were preserved in Greek.  But what is ignored is the fact that Jesus used the Aramaic dialect in His teachings.

This is how it was initially conveyed in the Peshitta text (meaning “straight,” “original” and “pure”) in the first century Eastern Church Syriac tradition.  In the Aramaic illumination transcripts that are still preserved in the Ancient Eastern Manuscripts, the spiritual knowledge (“Good News”) was communicated with a mixture of metaphysical narratives using symbolic idioms, parables and metaphors. The earliest Latin translation from the Aramaic first occurred in the Fourth Century. An enlightened guide to the origin and development of symbolic images and allegoric cryptograms can be found in The Power of Myth by mythologist Joseph Campbell.

From the Aramaic custom and language which Jesus spoke, many passages were initially expressed with its colloquial allegorical symbolism. Therefore, much of the originally metaphorical conveyed knowledge was lost in the Greek and Latin translations. Highly divergent is the evangelistic Christian authoritarian claim that their infallible canonical interpretations for any and all of the approximately 800,000 words of the Bible are unequivocally based on the literal “Word of God.” As a counterview, the mystical revelation in New Testament interpretation is that it was Jesus who was the true spiritual courier and representative Logos: “The Spokesman for God.”  His spiritual message is the key to understanding the scripture.

One favorable aspect of history revealed in the author’s comprehensive research of Christianity is that through the centuries there have been many examples of good, loving, serving  Christians that have wholeheartedly endeavored to follow the biblical guidelines of devotion and conduct in a  truly noble Christ-like Good Samaritan virtuous way of life. Regrettably, the level of discriminative morality and abusive power displayed as an institutionalized theocratic empire has often fallen short of the hallowed and transcendent spirituality championed by Jesus.

Historically, this domineering-based dogmatism was reinforced with a continuous stratagem of absolutism by the authoritative mandates of the ecclesiastical patriarchs, They steadfastly maintain their tyrannical conformity with their various belief systems to insure exclusive hierarchical dominance and unquestionable conformity. Then in the course of the historical development of Christianity into numerous divisions and denominations, there were institutional supporting caustic religious beliefs and practices that were often inappropriate and even direct contradictions to the essential spiritual concepts as taught and practiced by the Founder.

According to recent pole surveys, the various reasons why a growing number of “Nones” are abandoning organized religions reflect these negative background diversities. The central cause is that the previous aspirations of church institutions for infallible authority still often champions a fear-based fervent emphasis rather than Jesus’ central Gospel tenets of love, goodness, compassion and beneficence. His key supporting scriptural examples were “love your neighbor,” “forgive one another”, “turn the other cheek” and the gratifyingly resultant “peace on earth and good will towards men.”

The most common fundamentalist religious fallacy recognized by the “Nones” is their exceptionally egocentric “chosen people” mind set, evangelized with condensational fear-mongering moral evaluations focused on an “angry God” and “born sinner” humanity. This imparts the judgmental teachings that accentuate a denominational exclusiveness in which it is only by their singular mode of repentance that God’s grace and salvation can be merited. From this is extended the ultimate “eternal punishment” terror threat. The fear-based brainwashing list of immoralities is indeed long. And because it tends to darkens human existence and alienate much of humanity, it thwarts true humanitarian kinship and peace on Earth.

The scriptural basis for the intimidating interpretation of the “Fear of God” — evangelistically featured by many denominations — was initially expressed throughout the highly legalistically Jewish scriptures in the form of a commandment compliance mandate: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Grievously, it was later adopted in Constantine’s autocratic Romanization of Christianity as a fear-mongering control devise contrivance — certainly anything but a holy implement of wisdom.

However, in the original Aramaic translation based on Jesus’ spiritual-minded Wisdom Teachings, the chastising interpretation of “fear” originally meant the reverential “Awe of God” (reinforced in Jesus’ Beatitude: “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God” Matthew 5: 8). Also, completely overlooked in their infallible “Word of God” biblical methodology, is the heartening decree “fear not” which occurs 150 times in the Bible. This certainly is a favorably disposed time and subject for a Lesson of Atlantis turning point love-based revitalization.

From the open-minded understanding originally gained from the study of The Perennial Philosophy in conjunction with his Bible studies, the author has come to highly regard Jesus as the Ultimate Wisdom Teacher and enlightened conveyer of its irreplaceable Higher Truths. It is indeed ironical that Jesus’ life was a living example that demonstrated His spiritual agenda: to reprogram our concepts and beliefs of a vengeful and tyrannical God and convert them to His reassurance of a loving and forgiving Father. Therein he recognized that Jesus’ Law of Love was one of the true fundamental principles of the wisdom-based teachings. It was based on the prerequisite of every human to bring forth the latent goodness of our true nature with the evolutionary endowment of our free will choice as bestowed on us at our creation in the “Image and Likeness” birthright legacy of a benevolent Creator.

To the author, this validates the immense central biblical importance of the Greek aphorism “Know Thyself” — contained in what the author had come to consider the twin cornerstone biblical archetypes of our true divinely inborn relationship with God: “So God created man in his own Image” (Genesis 1:27) and “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). This helps validate that Jesus’ crucial “Second Coming” occurs within one’s self as the spiritually awakened mind and heart of Christ.

This was also given further biblical validation with “Neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, lo there! for, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke17:21); “Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells within you” ( I Corinthians 3:17 ); and “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” (John 10: 34). These scriptures support the redemptive ennoblement of the true character of God, humanity and also of the world as a favorable site God provided for human character development and spiritual growth.

The philosophical dilemma involved in support of A Good God Renaissance has been addressed in the study of theodicy: “the defense of God’s goodness and omnipotence in view of the existence of evil.”  Descartes (1596 – 1650) approached it philosophically as to “why in the best of all possible worlds do we make mistakes?” His solution was that, along with the immortality of our soul, we have infinite Free Will. We start with limited understanding, and in the process of making mistakes, we learn and grow and accordingly fulfill our divine potential.

In this context, the author has come to think of Earth as a school house in the University of the Universe. In the human condition theodicies “problem of evil.” Because life is a learning process, we learn a great deal from correcting our mistakes (think of Copernicus’ heliocentric theory and the ongoing scientific revolution). When applied to the wisdom tradition, we always have Lessons of Atlantis initiation-type enlightened advances to learn and grow from.

It is undoubtedly true that most Christians would probably be downright dismayed and even shocked by the full realization of some of the bleak and daunting practices and events that have occurred in the history of Christianity. Yet, from the verifiable information attained from the blogger’s extensive research, it must be preemptively recognized that much of the verifiable history of Christianity has a long and dismal background of internal conflicts, external combativeness and retaliatory vengeance. As we have seen, this was often cloaked in self-righteousness and self-appointed authoritative religiosity, yet lacking all the higher consciousness virtues that Jesus taught.

In George Santayana’s cautionary “remember history, or be condemned to repeat it,” it must be recognized that during its two millennia history in the legacy of Christianity, many dreadful and regrettable travesties have almost totally been ignored. There are many well documented records of militant strategies that were conducted through the Crusades, Inquisition, “witch crazes,” and religious wars.  In these bloodstained campaigns of violent subjugation, invasive proselytization, genocidal inflicted conversions and ethical cleansings, it is quite verifiable that millions of people have been abused, tortured and killed in Jesus’ name. Mindful that this infamous history had been deliberately obscured, every bit as daunting is the realization that this obsessive and ferocious religious extremism is still being evangelistically fostered in the present by the fanaticism of fundamentalist adherents (the modern spiritual inquisition).

Along with this — and still conspicuously prevalent — is one of the most repugnant of all their fear-based control devices: the satanic-like blame-game strategy by which they vilify any beliefs and actions that depart from their orthodoxy. The ancient metaphorical concept of the devil was clarified by Carl Jung in his psychological concept of the “shadow self.” This is merely an evasive characterized personification for the dark side of one’s own unconsciousness containing stored but suppressed retention of experiences the ego doesn’t want to identify with and therefore is projected on someone else. All the fundamentalist disparaging accusations and hate-filled denouncements against “sinners” give a clear view of their own phobic plagued psyche.  Common examples are homophobia and misogyny. Angels, on the other hand, metaphorically represent our intuitive insights of positive and favorable love-based spiritual inspirations and mystical perceptions: “Heaven and hell are within us” Joseph Campbell.

This is the most revealing aspect of how Christianity got off.  The dogmatic fear-based authority and control exploitation of this hidden anarchy of dark (Dante’s inferno) personality characteristic invalidates all of Jesus’ central spiritual teachings in His Beatitudes (“blessings”). The true personality redemption is the spiritually-founded psychological angelic mastery of one’s own higher form of thinking, feeling and self-expression.

In the author’s years of scholastically-based research and the information originally gained from the study of the aforementioned Perennial Philosophy regarding the authentic spiritual principles by which he would learn to base his life, he continued to maintain a keen interest in other books he found on the subject — notably The Secret Teaching of the Ages by Manly P. Hall.  From all this, he has come to think of this “lost” redemptive mystical lineage from antiquity as the now openly available current “Lesson of Atlantis” spiritual leap forward.

However, in wanting to bring it right out into the open, the author has also recognized that, after centuries of deeply ingrained indoctrinated belief systems, critical analyses of Christianity would be unacceptable and extremely offensive to its orthodox-affixed devotees. He was further aware that this restraint also applied within the tradition-bound dogma of the academia community when involving anything considered scholastically insupportable.

It is important to clarify the term Gnosis, which in Greek means “esoteric knowledge.” “Gnosticism is a philosophical movement that began during the second century BC and then gained notoriety in the fourth century A.D. It emphasized the good life and redemption by acquiring knowledge and removing ignorance. In its historical process of expansion, it blended many schools including the Platonic, Zoroastrian and Judaic groups prior to being widely disseminated into first century A.D. Christian thoughts and practices. It was proclaimed heretical in the fourth century A.D. and continued to be severely scorned and reviled by orthodox religiosity right into the present. It is, therefore, difficult to make a reassuring restitution that will be completely acknowledged.

Consequently, an important historical clarification has to be made about the importance of Gnosis and the early Christian Gnostics as revealed in the profound revelation about the origins of Christianity from the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Codices. Esoteric knowledge dates back at least to Socrates’ philosophy, Plato’s the “Way of Truth” and various sources of Wisdom literature. Ancient Mystery temples were distinguished with a single plaque above the entrance reading “Man, Know Thyself” as a command to reach the highest level of consciousness which would eventually recognize the hidden Christ within. It is also important to understand that, for a Gnostic Christian, the greatest achievement is a sublime and very personal experience of the Divine. Gnosis can also be synonymous with spiritual enlightenment.

Because these Christian Gnostics radically diverged from forth century Romanized Christianity and went beyond the Church’s teachings and transcended the authority of the hierarchy, they were tyrannically declared a heretical and a sacrilegious “cult” and were accused of professing that the “Earth was controlled by a hostile power and matter was evil.” Quite to the contrary, the true Gnostic beliefs fully supported the goodness of creation and the essential certainty that the true essence of human nature was a Divine Element (“spark”). Their spiritually valid redemption process was based on the transcendental awakening to the sacred knowledge of the True Christed Self. What the Gnostics were really against were all the depraved, unjust and harmful transgressions of shadowy worldly-minded beliefs and conduct,

Ironically, this Gnostic spiritually progressive belief system, in opposition to the darkened orthodox “born sinner” religious concept, is a far higher perception of humanity’s sacred potential. Unfortunately, this deeply indoctrinated demonization of the early Christian Gnostics endured all through history and is still considered sacrilegiously relevant in theological and academic circles. It most certainly is information you are not likely to hear in church.

This scholarship quandary concerned the censured knowledge attained from the author’s extensive research that revealed the uncomfortable historical certitude that there are doctrinally dictated, literally interpreted biblical passages that have enduringly caused adversarial and aggressive religious condemnatory and retaliatory intolerance. Therefore, even though the Ancient Mysteries were highly interesting to him, up until this article he was careful to tone down all his “restitution-related” Lesson of Atlantis dissertations to all but his like-minded audience.

Then, rather serendipitously, a turning point in his retirement years to openly express the verifiable scholarship about historical Christianity came with the newsworthy information that a surprisingly growing number of Americans are becoming non-religious (“Nones”). They are increasingly becoming turned off by the judgmental and often autocratic “ruled by dogma” fundamentalist religiosity and its lack of love, compassion and moral credibility.  The convincing reassurance that it could be helpful was in learning that many of them still identify themselves as “spiritual, but not religious” (SBNR) — and still maintain an allegiance as a “Follower of Jesus.”

Because of all the above, the author now experiences a growing desire to openly disclose the importance of reexamining the sacred texts correctly and recover the authentic spiritual truth that honors God’s precious “Image and Likeness” in every person, thus help humanity accept its divine heritage and live together in peace and grace. In relevance to this, he has found a truly inspiring way to spiritually relate to Jesus as our Beloved Elder Brother; a great comfort in times of challenge and an ethereal Guiding Light Who believes in us more than we believe in ourselves by enlightening us to be better than we ever thought we could be. Therefore he decided to link what he considered to be a “Good-God Renaissance” with the emerging “spiritual but not religious” movement.

The European and American Lineage of the Ancient Mysteries

The Ancient Mystery “Golden Thread” successor from Egypt was Greece.  It was through the epic poet Homer that the Greek mythic gods and goddesses have mainly been known. The Greek mysteries taught that there was a part of every human that was divine — the psyche (soul). The values centered on heroic ideals which humans should aspire, can be traced to the basic seven principal virtues of Humility, Charity, Chastity, Gratitude, Temperance, Patience and Diligence.  These same goals have been the challenge of religious orders throughout the ages.  Within the Greek mystery traditions were its renowned philosophers (“lovers of wisdom”). Starting with Pythagoras and Tales and followed by Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Their principles as initiates of the secret Eleusinian Order have been preserved within their mystical line of traditions right into the present.

In the following lineage leading the Ancient Mysteries up to the present, we will reflect on the Golden Thread Mystery Traditions that are more generally well known. However, there is one exception worth mentioning. This involves one vitally important transition of the mystical legacy from India and the Near East directly into a European nation.  It has been historically neglected, but the Moorish invasion of Spain resulted in an extraordinary cultural model.

The Moors crossed over into Spain from Africa and were of Near East Islam origins. For the next seven centuries Moorish Spain became an exceptional example of a flourishing society and cultural advancement linked to the ancient Masters of Wisdom (711 – 1472 A.D.). Most inspirational was their astonishing multi-cultural tolerance and equality between Islam, Christianity and Judaism. A major Ancient Wisdom esoteric contribution was Judaist Kabbalah.

During this amazing “Golden Age,” Muslims, Jews and Christians alike lived, studied and harmoniously shared their philosophical, metaphysical knowledge together — including women. Spain then had the world’s most progressive universities as well as 70 libraries that challenged the rest of Europe in philosophy and science; introducing new scientific concepts as the compass from China.

Their world renowned architectural wonders, such as the Alcazar and the Alhambra, added their glorious emblematic expressions of codified edifices reflecting the eminence of the Mysteries. Even further, Moorish Spain bestowed the enlightenment that brought Europe out of the Middle Ages, setting a shining example of a civilized and progressive state and ushering in the Western Renaissance. Sadly, it ended in 1492 with the Catholic intolerant and repressive inquisition. This seven centuries era of high standards of equality in religion, nationality and gender — with values and virtues that are sorely lacking in today’s world — would truly be welcomed back into our present today.

The next best known transition through Europe was the Italian-based Renaissance (14th through the 16th centuries): a period of great cultural change and advancement. Their philosophy of humanistic idealism and creativity then swept into Northern Europe. Secrecy regarding the Mystery Teachings was maintained because the teachings were conveyed essentially through art, architecture and music. Much of the secret knowledge is still preserved in the Mystical Orders which prevailed though the centuries into the present time.  The ancient axiom still applies: “when the student is ready, the Master appears.”

Out of the Renaissance came the Scientific Revolution, beginning with Copernicus’ concept of a heliocentric (sun-centered) universe and sweeping into Norther Europe. This revolution involved transforming fundamental scientific ideas in the fields of astronomy, physics and biology into the foundation of modern science. Seen as an infringement on orthodox Christian dogma, it resulted in a specialized field of study called Scholasticism with a small group of scholars who sought to reconcile the philosophies of ancient classics with medieval Christianity.

Next came the Enlightenment, an important philosophical movement with a tendency towards individualism carried forth from the Renaissance that helped lead the world out of the constraints of ignorance, irrational, and tyranny towards the Ancient Mystery’s heirloom of cultural progression and fulfillment that is inherently possible for humankind by seriously questioning traditional doctrinal values. These progressive ideas had a great impact on the bedrock principles upon which the United States of America was founded. The Jeffersonian philosophical vision encoded within the Declaration of Independence of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” was based on the self-evident truth that “all men are created equal” and was drawn directly from the Scottish Enlightenment.

During the second half of the 18th century, The Scottish Enlightenment was an intellectual movement of highly motivated thinking characterized as another “Golden Age” of advanced thinkers in many fields — especially attentive to moral philosophy and theology. At the core, they focused on elevating the human spirit through aspiring towards the nobility of their inherent divine nature by concentrating on all that was good, true and inspiring regarding God in terms of a truly good nature and benevolent providence sustaining and guiding human history.

The historical impact of these  “Followers of a New Light,” in their revolutionary relation to higher spiritual truth, helped shape the influential safeguards of the signers of the Declaration of Independence in the American system of democracy that assured separation of church and state and a reformist system of checks and balances. It also helped both in augmenting and protecting the true American Spirit and created an iconic pattern for the common heritage of all humanity.

It is quite true that almost half the American Founding Fathers who attended the Constitutional Convention were of Scottish descent and members of mystical orders (the Rosicrucians and Freemasons). Their literary masterpieces, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States, have come to be regarded as milepost credentials for human achievements and the glorification of justice, equality and personal freedom  liberty and personal independence, the intrinsic values of the great American Dream.

Another American contribution to the Mystical Tradition came from the New England Transcendentalist sages including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson. This unique spiritual/philosophical movement was also based on the mystical insight of the inherent divinity and spiritual potential endowed to all people by God.

Those most responsible for the author’s spiritual quest were Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. They were the American New Thought metaphysicians who founded the International Unity Movement as a Positive Path for Spiritual Living in the late 1880s.

And certainly Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr — and Mother of the Civil Rights Movement Rosa Parks —  were important contributors to reinstating the great principle of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” that distinguished the unique greatness of America. This illustrious standard of Jeffersonian political philosophy has become our nation’s most cherished symbol that we honor every year with the Fourth of July celebration.

And, speaking of “The Lesson of Atlantis” pendulum swing second chances, the highly successful Twelve Steps addiction recovery programs from alcohol, drugs and overeating were also formulated in the United States in the 20th century. Rarely recognized is that the program was formulated on the life-changing “rebirth” principles of the Ancient Mysteries highlighting transcendent redemption through spiritual enlightenment. Another exceptional organizational feature — as a model of democratic administration — is its absence of formulized dogma and dogmatic demands for intuitional obedience.

The founders were closely connected to the Oxford Group, originally called the Royal Society and founded 300 years earlier in the English University of Oxford as an attempt to return to the unimpeded first century Christianity “before it was complicated and distorted by religious doctrines, dogmas and institutional dissimilarity, strife and divisions.”  Psychologist Carl Jung was also personally involved by adding a spiritual intuitive awakening process that leads to an understanding of one’s self in becoming a whole person.  Along with its spiritual insight, the major them of the Twelve Step recovery program highlights the eminence of “A beneficent Higher Power.”

The following are the Twelve Steps. (1) We admitted we were powerless over alcohol —  that our lives had become unmanageable. (2) Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (3) Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him, (4) Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. (5) Admitted to God, to ourselves, and another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. (6) Were entirely ready to have God remove these defects of character. (7) Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. (8) Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. (9) Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. (10) Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. The AA prayer for personal peace is “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” The AA guiding principle is “one day at a time.” Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all the AA traditions by which they “practice principles over personalities.” Although AA has no connection to any religious institution or belief system, the Twelve Steps Program provides an excellent path for the practice of the higher virtues which will eventually lead to the recognition of the Divine Self. The Formative Structure of the Ancient Mysteries

George Santayana once said: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”  The wisdom of this aphorism can be extended if it applies not only to the many dark age negatives of history, but also because it can bring forth the recurring Lesson of Atlantis positive stages of Enlightened Restoration. Truly, history can one of humanity’s most important teachers.

After Atlantis, in the pathway of the Ancient Mysteries, Egypt became the next in the line of succession as a stronghold of the Wisdom Teachings. Many influential religious allegorical traditions emerged out of the Egyptian pantheistical worship traditions. The spread of the popular myths of the godlike pharaoh Osiris and his “virgin mother” sister-bride goddess Isis, who were extensively celebrated symbolically and ritualistically, were the primary deification models in the formation of Egyptian Mystery Teachings and their schools of future orders.

The Osirian death and resurrection legend was adopted in Christianity as was the “Son of God” identity connoting one who possessed a conscious awareness of the Divine Truth of their being and the capability of manifesting it. The arcane Hermetic knowledge tradition through which the mythological writings intrinsic in the perennial wisdom were assimilated in Egypt was also integrated into the ingeniously designed wonder of the Great Pyramid of Giza’s architecture.

The true symbolic meaning assimilated into  the many marvels of this ingeniously designed monument — and its encoded symbols as a great treasury of spiritual knowledge and archetype repository of the Ancient Mystery tradition — is still rarely known in its highly defended disguise as a funeral tomb-site of Pharaoh Khutu. There are recent discoveries from new technologies of hidden rooms and chambers which may finally reveal deeper secrets.

This awe-inspiring wonder is truly an architecture masterpiece — the most magnificent man-made structure in history. It was erected with a massive size that exceeds all the cathedrals and churches of the world. And, although exactly how it was constructed remains unknown, it was built with such precision that it baffles modern architects and even current technology cannot replicate it. This includes a “golden mean” geometrically constructed  exterior of twenty three million huge casing stones with a square based exact celestial alignment to the  four points of the compass, The interior consists of a series of long linear passageways, enigmatic chambers and a numbers of interior shafts. There are also embedded hieroglyphic messages on sculptural reliefs and wall carvings. And, as a repository for spiritual truth, it is also a creative expression of harmonic astronomical alignment with of the “Great Architect of the Universe”

Even further, although ancient Egyptians had a unwavering obsession with life after death, the Great Pyramid was still essentially intended as a repository of the secret spiritual truths of the ages involving this life. The codified architecture structure serves both as a monument to the vast wisdom and prophecies of the Ancient Mysteries — and as a “house of hidden places” to protect its true purpose from exploitation. Therefore, although still officially maintaining a stone- like stance that it be regarded as a mortuary resurrection machine, this magnificent structure is actually an emblem for the spiritual quest and the mysteries of spiritual consciousness. Metaphorically, the resurrection in the Mysteries was the transformative process of dying to the darkness of mortal ignorance and being “Born Again” into spiritual enlightenment.

Hence, the true function of the Great Pyramid in relation to the mission of the Mystical Orders — lost to the world for centuries — is to serve as a Temple of Initiation for individual soul evolution and ultimately a complete consciousness renewal and new and higher life for humanity. These progressive Ancient Mystery esoteric Enlightenment Initiations are installed into the lives of neophyte aspirants through ceremonial rituals  (also practiced in the shrouded secrecy of contemplative Mystical Orders).

These emblematic Initiation  provisions are intrinsic in the architectural design of the Great Pyramid. The internal pyramid ascending pathways and recurrent chambers represent a series of ladder-like escalating degrees of higher consciousness in the Initiation ritual. Each higher chamber provides soul-searching Lessons of Atlantis new beginnings for progressively overcoming our lesser selves by ascending to the highest pinnacle of human existence —  and thereby achieving union with our Divine Selves.

A very important symbolic secret about the Great Pyramid is that the true purpose of the King’s Chamber is to provide the sacred chamber for the final stage in the ascending spiritual path of the initiation ladder and the stone sarcophagus — the heart of soul of the Great Pyramid — is used in the ceremonial mystery-of-rebirth transitional ceremony for those who have reached the level of consciousness so that they can precisely understand and rightly apply the Ancient Mysteries. (On an Egyptian tour, the author entered the interior of the Great Pyramid and experienced an epiphany in the King’s Chamber).

Another highly mysterious feature is that the most important part of the Great Pyramid is considered to be the missing Capstone. There have been many rational attempts to explain it. Then the upraised illumined pyramid was engraved on a U.S. dollar bill — (“by those who have eyes to see”) — and combined with another ancient Egyptian icon, “The All Seeing Eye,” and also engraved with the words: “A New World Order and God Favors Our Undertaking.” This iconic portrayal more openly indicates that the missing Capstone is the most significant Lesson of Atlantis restitution symbol of the Great Pyramid.

The long-time guardianship mission of the Great Pyramid is to serve in helping the future continuance of humanity’s spiritual “new birth” enlightenment progression through all the “Lesson of Atlantis  light and dark cycles of history. Its commanding esoteric meaning is that the overall mission of the Ancient Mysteries was to assist in the evolution of humanity’s progressive enlightenment into God Consciousness and, thereby, help in the spiritual revolution of the way humanity lives as increasingly newer and higher divinely inspired civilizations come through.

There were several other important Egyptian contributions to the historical advancement of the “Golden Thread.” One was the initial introduction of the Mysteries into Greece — assimilated into the tradition of Hermes Trismegistus — by Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher and mathematician who made influential contributions to philosophy, religion and mathematics with the geometric Pythagorean Theorem. Pythagoras first traveled to Egypt in the late sixth century B.C. remaining there 22 years and was initiated into all the Mysteries. In returning to Greece as a “lover of wisdom,” he established the Pythagorean monastery-type school.  It was here that his teachings made a marked influence on Plato and through him to the entire Western world.

Next, in replicating the national crisis depicted in the Lesson of Atlantis, Egypt was undergoing a serious threat from foreign enemies and was a prime for a national and cultural change. A new Pharaoh named Akhenaton, against much political and religious power-prone opposition, created a major transition that most likely altered the course of human history by instituting a wide-sweeping religious reform establishing the belief in One Universal God.

An additional Egyptian Mystery School influence involved the Essene Nazorean convent at Mount Carmel, highly regarded by Egyptian priests. Pythagoras studied here and it became part of the legacy of these early “Followers of Jesus.” This important part of Christian history was entirely delegated and ignored by the Fourth Century A.D. Roman orthodox institutional religion, and then reintroduced by the twentieth Century discoveries of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi Codices with the inference that Jesus also studied and taught here as well as His followers.

Still another great Egyptian historical treasure was the ancient city of Alexandria — founded by Alexander the great in 331 BC.  In its Golden age, along with its monumental architecture were the University of Alexandria and the Royal Library of Alexandria. The University, a famed center of academic excellence, was the oldest institution of learning in the world.  It schooled some 5,000 students and sages from many nations over seven centuries and was primarily devoted to preserving the Eternal Wisdom, in which metaphysics and mystical enlightenment prevailed.

The University was also affiliated with the famous Alexandrian library. This literary archive is the one remaining Ancient Mystery treasure in Egypt. The most famous library of classical antiquity,  It is said to have housed every manuscripts that had ever been written up until that time — amounting to a collection of upwards to 700,000 papyrus scrolls containing higher knowledge on a wide range of  intellectual and mystical subjects from major cultural and learning developing nations of that time.

Both the university and its library were beacons of learning for the entire world. And then, in an amazing way, its history replicates the Lesson of Atlantis. This began when the library was completely destroyed by burning in AD 391 by a Christian mob. This occurred because of the threatening preeminence of the knowledge of enlightenment which it openly disseminated — considered to be heretical Gnosticism (a secret, intuitive knowledge of the divine) by the doctrinism of the Western Roman Church.

It is also very important that many of the University scholars were motivated to preserve the original manuscripts[s for future recovery by hiding them in other locations or having them buried. The attempt to save the hidden manuscripts was historically fulfilled in the mid-20th century discoveries of the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Judean Desert and the Nag Hammadi Codices in Egypt. From this marvelous Lesson of Atlantis historical restoration, the library has been rebuilt into a modern masterpiece splendor in the same location and opened in AD 2002.

Yet, another Lesson of Atlantis positive consequence occurred from the Alexandrian tragedy. Some of the Alexandrian scholars who were Theraputae (“healers of the soul”) soon formed a monastic community of Essene Nazorean-like brotherhood near Alexandria in Lake Moers. This relocated Mystical center was similar to the Mount Carmel Essene School of Prophets in Palestine and helped reinforced its deeper level of spirituality to which Jesus was associated.

In the overall historical appraisal Egypt, having reached the pinnacle of its dominion by inventing the concept of a super power, it was the preeminent ancient cornerstone of Western civilization.  Ironically, there were also some very dark periods of collapsed and divided kingdoms. Most regrettably, a political, cultural and economic low point is being experienced at the present time.

From the 2016 Egyptian Arab Spring, there currently remains a disordered political crisis of deeply divided Muslim-Christian tension while the Egyptian military remains the main autocratic political agent and decision maker. With violence, crime and political uncertainty on the rise, there is great anxiety by its citizens over their country’s future resulting in a serious economic downfall from the lack of tourism. The greatest financial sightseeing loss is that of the Great Pyramid. Yet, hopefully, it still retains its crucial Lesson of Atlantis pendulum swing activating potential.

                                                                   Article Three

The Ancient Mysteries and the Legend of Atlantis

In support of the potential SBNR-based spiritual initiation of an evolutionary transformation of humanity into higher order, this article will cover some of this fairly unfamiliar aspect.  This will be then be followed by the generally unknown history of how, in the development of Christianity, it got off so much from what Jesus actually taught and exemplified.

In viewing the current national and global crisis from the SBNR “Followers of Jesus” point of view as a spiritual challenge for initiating a renaissance transformation, we will draw on the highly secretive perennial knowledge of the enlightened minds of the past that intuitively revealed how — at the favorable evolutionary stage of higher consciousness receptiveness — a major advance in the development of latent human potential could be collectively initiated.

The Great Ancient Mystery traditions and their transcendental spiritual revelations of  Divine Reality reach back into early times. They comprise the works of some of the worlds greatest savants and masterminds encompassing humanity’s archetypal heirloom of spiritual truth. These Sacred Teachings of mystical wisdom highlight a wealth of spiritual insights into the universal principles and disciplines for awaking the full divine potential of our soul’s earth life’s purpose.

These Spiritual Wisdom teachings veil the highest cultural understandings of humanity’s divine origins as God’s “Image and Likeness” (Genesis 1: 27). We have the sacred destiny to transform in the spiritual archetype of the Christ. This includes the progression from the delusional darkness of spiritual unawareness to the transcendent enlightenment or Gnosis: the actual experience “Christ in you, the hope of Glory” (Colossians 1: 27).\

Thomas Keating, 20th century architect of Centering Prayer as a transformational means of raising consciousness through spiritually advanced levels of contemplative prayer,  wrote in his Evolutionary Model of Humanity: “All of creation is in a perennial evolutionary state and within the fabric of life itself, the unseen quantum mechanics of Consciousness is intrinsically in progressively manifesting the Divine in us.”

The progressive results are the attainment of the virtues that lead to the Christ model of goodness and moral excellence:  humility, generosity, chastity, patience, temperance, charity, diligence and more. The transformation must first begin with a careful process of deprograming the mind from incorrect and negative beliefs about the Divine. The human thought processes, like the human body, also undergo evolution and maturity. Biblical myths tend to be interpreted literally by the immature mind and then understood in their abstract form further in life thus spiritually graduating into the initiates path, or to elaborate on Jesus’ John 3:3 proclamation: to be “born again.” This overall evolutionary progression is also confirmed in the study of history.

This enlightened path of “second birth” teachings has been carried forward into the present through various mystical and philosophical organizations (including the Buddhist “Self Liberation”). Yet, these formidable spiritual wisdom teachings have generally been ignored, Erased from conventional history — and have too often been the focus of conventional religious institutions to obliterate any validity or authenticity concerning this arcane esoteric knowledge. To protect these priceless teachings, they have covertly gone underground and remained secret never to be revealed to the uninitiated.

As a result, the most formidable challenge involved in understanding the Ancient Mysteries tradition is their transmission anomaly. The mysteries were never written, but must be understood symbolically within the codified allegories, idioms, myths, legends and architecture used to convey the highest and best accumulated knowledge of mystical truth. These have long been used exclusively within the protected domain and codified transmission of the Secret Order Societies — free from all ecclesiastical biased revision.

Then, the first openly publicized revelation of theses previously veiled teaching was the Philosophia Perennis by German Philosopher Von Leibniz and augmented in the 20th century by Aldous Huxley in the The Perennial Philosophy. This disclosed a metaphysics that recognized the transcendent Divine Reality and the human soul’s immanent “Image and Likeness of God” identity as the highest common factor of all mysticism. There are other books found on the historical lineage of the Mysteries — notably the Secret Teachings of the Ages by Manly P Hall.

Along with Tibetan Buddhism’s mysticism, some of the oldest Eastern “books of knowledge” are the ancient Vedas and Upanishad perennial sources of secret and sacred spiritual knowledge involving the evolution of the soul.  Architectural shrines, temples and monasteries also serve as spiritual symbols, including the legendary the legendary Taj Mahal — a metaphoric tribute to Eternal Love.

An important contribution from India and the Near East was the western spread of the sacred systems of enlightened knowledge, including spiritually authentic Gnosis, into Egypt and Greece. This very special lineage knowledge of the venerable Mystery School Philosophy traditions, although unobtainable through many ages, has been recently openly exhibited in Cairo, Egypt. There is no doubt that the essential knowledge of the esoteric tradition of India and the Near East has been important ant influences in advancing and improving the human state.

Although the actual origins of the Ancient mysteries apparently remain part of the esoteric tradition of secrecy, it is known that there is a continuous (“Golden Thread”) line of higher ideals that have conveyed the spiritual point of view for a very long time. However, although there is no genuine proof, one mythological account does contain a conceivable veiled probability that the Legend of Atlantis might have furnished an allegorical introduction to an important aspect at the heart of the Mystical Tradition — the marvel of  human holiness.

The mystery of Atlantis — a pseudo-historical mythology of a sunken island nation — still captures the imagination of many people who continue to speculate where its location really might have been. But it also believed by some that in his dialogues, Plato, a Greek Gnostic- Mystery School Initiate, first portrayed Atlantis in a metaphorical manner in ways that dramatize both the calamitous destruction of a lost utopian civilization lured away from a pathway of wisdom and virtue by greed and self-aggrandizement; later on symbolically representing two of the temptations of Christ.  Furthermore it also served as renovating inspiration for the possible redemptive renewal veiled in the Lesson of Atlantis yet often evident in history.

This supplemental mythical extension is because the mystery of Atlantis may be found also included the positive addition which, in anticipation of the ruinous collapse, a small remnant of mystic sages migrated to Egypt and thereby preserved their accrued sacred knowledge clothed in the secret language of symbolism containing a vital message involving a second chance for those ready to receive it.

Therefore, along with the Legend of Atlantis explicit forewarnings about avoiding the type of disasters that cause the downfall of civilizations, Plato’s mythical account  also demonstrated the serendipitous Path of Redemption possibility of a “new birth” transition from a “paradise lost” into a progressive advanced culture under more inspired leadership — or an allegorical symbol for a spiritual quest. It also heightens the importance that secrecy has played in protecting Spiritual Truth from distortion and misuse.

This “eyes opened” myth also replicates the legendary biblical Garden of Eden “fall of man” site before the ensuing cultivation of our latent divinely gifted potential would reveal the inborn possibility of humanity’s progressive evolution of enlightened knowledge.  As with this biblical pendulum swing serendipity, Plato then carries it forward by highlighting the awaiting “spiritual flourishing” as a Lesson of Atlantis work in progress that makes our souls blossom from our inborn spiritual potential for transcendent fruition into our Higher Self. This would be quite typical of a Mystery School secretive revelation would have been disclosed.

It is true that many times in recorded history many civilizations have come and gone because they did not align their spiritual path of higher consciousness with virtuous living and righteous governing.  But the great promise contained in the esoteric mystery of Atlantis is that many of the devastating crisis and cultural collapse actually triggered an evolutionary pendulum swing renaissance. This emblematic “Lesson of Atlantis” spiritual awakening is the encouraging regeneration possible in our nation and even major parts of the world.

A SBNR Good God Renaissance Article Two

The crucial distinction between “Spiritual” and “Religious”

Although religion and spirituality are often equated, they comprise two separate realms of reality: the earthbound and the transcendental “not of this world” mystical authenticity. Religion, by definition, is a humanly created institutional system of doctrinal and dogmatic beliefs and practices involving devotional worship of God. Spirituality (“relating to Spirit”) encompasses the foundation mystic credence that the True Nature of God , as the Upholder of all Reality is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent — and encompasses the illuminating and sanctified venerable Truth that everything God created is pronounced “very good” (Genesis 1:31).

From this is the complementary Spiritual Bequeathal that each and every human is consecrated as “created in the image of God” (Genesis 1: 27). A major distinction between the religious and spiritual belief systems is the maxim “Spiritual things must be spiritually discerned” (see I Corinthians 2: 16 “”but we have the mind of Christ” and 3:15 “”know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you.”

There are many good, kind-hearted and compassionate Christians and well-meaning soul- serving mainline Christian communities. In respect to them, it is rather regrettable that we have to explore the negative side of the more fundamentalist aspects of Christendom. But, there certainly is substantial scholastic research that validates much of Christianity’s unfortunate history.

The creeds and doctrines to which the general denominations now conform are all interpretations and rules developed by church leaders after the time of Jesus. Although they were about Jesus, they differed according to their varying levels of the conformist understanding of their particular orthodox (“right opinion”) standards of belief.

Therefore, in its long history, there are unquestionably negative examples of Christian institutional organizations that often opposed each other in terms of their beliefs and practices and sometimes even resorted to many instances of unrighteous opposition, severe punishment and even militant warfare. More important, their opposition to each other in terms of differing  levels of understanding throughout the history of Christianity all too often completely diverted them from understanding and practicing the original spiritual teachings of Jesus.

The religious history of extremism — whether Christian, Judaic or Islamic have many things in common. They include fear fostering, domineering authoritarianism, social isolation, strict and retributive adherence to rules and rites, prohibited knowledge, restrictive education, strong political leanings with attempted dominance and divinely justified terrorism.

The underlying gravity of all this historical diversion, divisiveness and distortion resulted in a serious gap between spiritual truth and religious institutionalization which has long been responsible for many of the ills of society. In Christianity, this is especially reminiscent of Calvin’s compromised Reformation’s inflexible dogma of a vengeful God’s “eternity in hell” for depraved, sinful humans and salvation for the exclusive Elect. Their evangelical tactics were rigid, narrow-minded, judgmental and promoted prejudice with fear-based shadow-self projections against “sinners” and those who did not believe as they did — condemnatory evangelist prosecution.

Unfortunately, there are definite aspects of this fundamentalist fanaticism which still adhere to the continued preoccupation with sin, evil, everlasting punishment — and all the grim negatives of the Dark Ages “hell and brimstone” adversative mentality. Currently in the United States — perhaps most regrettably in light of our nation’s cherished heritage of freedom, equality and separation of church and state – such interpretations have contributed to polarizing our nation with biased, right-winged (reaction to progressive modern social change) political conservative ideology and propaganda activities.  This judgmental  fundamentalist bigotry often resembles an inquisition mind-set.  All this is quite offensive to many Americans.

The notable spiritual principles that are sometimes still tragically missing in the history of religion are those that involve love, wisdom, grace-filled compassion and justice. The truly redemptive love-based religious revolution, now potentially a possible redeeming replacement for the dividing, fear-based  “angry God” and “born sinner” approach, is the total recommitment to the spiritual principles highlighting our unique God-given role as expressers of our “very good” inherent Divine Nature. The author is nostalgically reminiscent of the emotional-stirring words “oh, when will they ever learn?” in Bob Dylan’s 1962 song Blowing in the Wind.

An outstanding example of spiritual living was Saint Frances of Assisi (1182 – 1226). Devoted to Jesus’ humanistic high character humanitarian virtues of love, goodness, compassion and living in a Christ-like way — and maintaining his focus on spirituality as the true essential for our authentic Self-Realization living — he was one of the most venerated religious leaders of history. He was also a Patron Saint of animals and the natural environment (especially relevant in our time of climate change).

One of the paramount enhancements to our often compromised spiritual evolvement in the present time would be to bring the “Guiding Light” examples of the past back into our personal and global lack of high-minded beneficence and cooperative humanism. At the heart of the Spiritual But Not Religious movement is the avant-garde restitution awareness of the sometimes remorseful negatives and inequalities of rigidly conformist religion, most especially the doom and gloom conservative branches.

The SBNR movement — as “Followers of Jesus” — has the potential for helping launch a Good God Renaissance by helping bring harmony, equality, unity and peace to all our fellow human beings by accentuating the positive aspects of Jesus “Glad Tidings.” All this is supported by the primary Mystical Truth that “spirituality is one of our basic human inheritances (Dr. Dean Hamer, author of The God Gene: How Faith is Hard-wired Into Our Genes.

Although, from the many historical examples of severe conservative opposition to anything considered heretical, it still might initially be met by a great deal of denial and rebuttal. Yet, it is certainly a worthy cause that could help bring forth a far more progressive spiritualized world.  It definitely warrants being embraced as a major American movement.

In grasping the significance of this historical reformation, one of the crucial requirements in understanding the truth about Jesus’ spiritually authentic teachings is for an understanding of the transcendent difference between the consciousness enlightening Wisdom Teachings of the Ancient Mysteries inherent in His exemplar “Good News” (Gospel) revelations and that of the Orthodox rigid-rules of obedience to religious interpretations. True Christianity is a mystical religion.

So, in support of the potential  SBNR-based spiritual initiation of an evolutionary transformation of humanity into a higher order, the next article will cover some of this fairly unfamiliar aspect.  This will then be followed by a generally unknown history of how, in the development of Christianity, it god off so much from what Jesus actually taught and exemplified.

A SBNR Good God Renaissance Article One

The Following articles are intended to give the reader an alternative view of who Jesus really was and how his message had been distorted throughout millennia.

                                                A SBNR Good God Renaissance

                                                                 Article One

Introduction

The purpose of this manuscript is to rescue Jesus from negative religion as a significant contribution to the present possibility of an epic cultural transformation. One remarkable indication that a redemptive spiritual change is already in process in helping revolutionizing American’s organized religion can be seen is in the rapidly growing new movement of the Spiritual But Not Religious (SBNR) “Nones” — who are disillusioned by a fire-brimstone religion and yet who still designate themselves as “Followers of Jesus.According to present Pew Research Center poles, this is the fastest growing spiritual movement in the United States, in which 72% of the American Millennial Generation is presently “more spiritual than religious.” Consequently, orthodox religious affiliation is rapidly losing ground to these “Nones.”

The author’s objective isn’t to repudiate the sacred devotional and moralist role that religion can be capable of contributing to humanity, but to point out the present need for adopting a more spiritual-minded worship and love-based regard for a more compassionate God of “amazing grace” and benevolence. This reform movement will certainly help redeem all the alienating dogmatic and fundamentalist practices with their judgmental and evangelistic fear-based doctrines that turn the SBNR “Nones” off.

The author himself is an ordained minister in a liberal denomination with many years of Bible and historical research in support of the enlightened spirituality as taught and lived out by Jesus, the “Teacher of Righteousness.” (To him, liberal means to “progressively liberate” and conservative, as understood now-a-days, designates the “tyranny of the status quo”).

We live in times and traditions that have neglected the spiritual — and the consequences are all-embracing both personally and culturally. In these essays, we will view the current national and global crisis as a spiritual challenge. Then we will draw on the authentic historically-based knowledge and examples of the enlightened minds of the past that led humanity upwards and onwards and provided the major advances in the development of human potential. Generally regarded as the Ancient Wisdom Tradition, this “Golden Thread” of Spiritual Truth preserves the highest understanding of Spiritual Principles of Self Transcendence  as taught by the mystics within the major religions and philosophies throughout history. It authenticates that we are on the world for a Divine Purpose.

One of the most important aspects of corrective redemption we will share in this historical journey back in time will be to restore the lost years and the priceless mysteries concerning the spiritual identity and mission of Jesus that has never been revealed in the accepted orthodox Gospels. This has been greatly enhanced by the mid-tenth century discoveries of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Codices. The discovery of this new revelation of the higher ranges of Spiritual Truth — in which we truly learn to think and act more like Jesus — can bring forth a new kind of faith for individual living and help create a more just and peaceful world.

In the light of these current break-through disclosures, the best possible outcome of the current SBNR movement could be in helping trigger a transformational Good God Renaissance within the Christian religions that would more closely replicate a truly reverential Good God spirituality. In quite a remarkable and seemingly paradoxical way, it is actually now underway by Pope Francis, a Good God devotee. This regeneration of humanity’s Spiritual Wellbeing is certainly worth accepting and praying for as a possible answer.

In the following articles, we will explore the crucial difference between the mystical and orthodox religious theologies, followed by the current discoveries of the lost years and missing message knowingly kept secret from the public as well as the true spiritual meaning of Jesus’s life and teachings.
